Why You Should Read The Seat of the Soul

The Seat of the Soul is considered one of the world’s most influential spiritual books. Oprah Winfrey keeps a copy of it next to her bed, to guide her through life's endeavors. Here is my take on the book & a few realizations to follow.

Gary Zukav is the author of The Dancing Wu Li Masters, winner of The American Book Award for Science; Soul Stories, a New York Times bestseller. The Seat of the Soul is a New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Publishers Weekly number one bestseller. Generally, his books have sold millions of copies and are published in 16 languages.

I decided to give Zukav a shot after encountering a few of his quotations on Bell Hooks’ Men, Masculinity, and Love. Also, the updated edition of this bestseller includes prefaces by Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou.

Although written originally in 1986, and published in 2002, The Seat of the Soul is highly relevant, with website links, and a new Study Guide to help readers find a way to practice what they learn in theory through The Seat of the Soul, in what Zukav calls ‘the earth school’. Bottom line, this book was recommended by two feminist black women – so of course, it drew my attention. And I was not disappointed with my decision to buy it and read it!

What the Book Will Offer You

First of all, you need to know that you can only extract the best out of The Seat of the Soul if your mind is opened to the idea of souls, spirituality, and our interaction with the Universe. This book requires you to keep your horizons wide open, without being judgemental or placing doubts about the concepts that Zukav beautifully elaborates. He will walk you through the concept of karma, the way previous lives connect to our current lives, and the way we can pretty much remain in constant communication with our “non-physical teachers and guides” as he calls our intuition, guts, and conscience.

The Seat of the Soul warns us that there is a new world emerging, and a new wave of conscience is rising for us humans, as he encourages us to become the authority of our own lives. He talks a lot about what he calls “external power”, and fills you up with curiosity to both hop on board and explore the new phase in which, according to Zukav, humanity has entered. “We are evolving from a species that understands power as the ability to manipulate and control—external power—into a species that understands power as the alignment of the personality with the soul—authentic power,” he adds. Authentic power is what he continuously will strive to teach you through the powerful chapters and aspects of the soul, listed in the book.

I have to admit, I thought I was familiar with the law of attraction before, and I substantially believe that you can pretty much attract what you think, however, Zukav took it to the next level for me, as he provides concrete examples and evidence-based data on how thinking patterns and the way we let ourselves expand, soulfully, can have a major impact in our lives.

The Seat of the Soul has sold millions of copies around the globe, and it has managed to do so because there are so many people out there who relate to the idea of living through values that pour directly from one’s soul. If you think the book can have a similar, enlightening impact on you, then I totally recommend you read it.
