One of the biggest shows on Earth is back after a three-year hiatus. Let's dive deep into
When the first season of Stranger Things premiered on Netflix back in the summer of 2016, the audience was enamored with just how good the show was. The 80s nostalgia got everyone buzzing, even the people who never experienced that decade themselves. Now, the fourth season is here after a three-year waiting period. The pandemic may have had something to do with the extended delay but nonetheless, the first part of season four is now on Netflix.
The Story So Far
The story initially begins with Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) disappearing from what looks like a supernatural event, and his family and the police going all-out looking for him. The twists and turns that the series takes are incredible. Although the show features more of an ensemble cast of characters, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) could be considered the main one. She possesses psychokinetic powers, meaning that she’s able to move and do things with just her mind. She then meets up with a group of friends consisting of Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). On the other hand, we also have Will’s mom Joyce (Winona Ryder), and chief Hopper (David Harbour) who are also on the lookout for Will. The first season is regarded as the best one as it has that surprising fresh element to it. The season ends with Eleven disappearing as she defeats the Demogorgon from the Upside Down and Will is back home safe. Or is he?
Season two takes the stakes up a notch with new scary creatures and an even larger cast of characters. It’s one year later now, 1984, and the whole world is in danger. Will still has ties to the Upside Down and in order for everyone to survive, they will need to close the gate from one world to another once and for all. Eleven goes on a journey of self-discovery as she looks for her mom and a sense of identity. Perhaps the most beloved character of the season though is Bob Newby (Sean Astin) as he both steals and breaks the hearts of the audience in this season. In the end, Eleven is able to close the gate and everything seems all fine and dandy.
Season three starts off with Russians looking to open another gate to the Upside Down. Robin (Maya Hawke) joins the gang and offers a breath of fresh air among many characters. The story goes everywhere from a Russian base, soldiers, and huge scary monsters and dwells into relationships left and right. By the end, the Russians are not all defeated and the threat of the Upside Down is as real as ever. The season came out in 2019 and since then there’s been barely anything to chew on for Stranger Things fans, until now.
Season Four Is Here
After a three-year wait, season four has finally arrived on Netflix. Well, part of it at least. The first even episodes are available on Netflix as of May 27, and the last two episodes will release on July 1. It’s worth noting however that every single episode will be over 60 minutes long, with the last two episodes being over two hours long. So, basically, every episode will be pretty much movie length.
If you’re a fan of the show this is basically a gift from the creators, the Duffer Brothers. The next season will be the show’s last so you may as well enjoy these releases while you still can because before we know it, the show may have run its course.
