Continuing with our series on the universities in Italy, we conclude with the city of arcades, Bologna. The city has an unbelievable number of arcades that one rarely needs an umbrella when it rains. In fact it has the most number of arcades compared to any other city in the entire world. This being the case it may one day receive the status of a UNESCO heritage site.
With university campuses spread across the city and having one of the oldest and most reputed universities in Europe, Bologna attracts not only students under the Erasmus program but also students from different parts of the world.
As with most European cities, Bologna has its share of history. The main sites being the city square itself known as the Piazza Maggiore and the Fountain of Neptune among others. The piazza is one of the largest compared to most cities in Europe and is lined with shops and cafes where foreigners mingle with the locals.
What is one to say about the cuisine? It’s Italy after all and Bologna prides itself on its cuisine. Most of the pastas are meat based and succulent and the neighboring areas produce some of the best quality cured hams.
There is something for everyone in this cosmopolitan city. Be it monuments, restaurants and cafes, theatres or even the Lamborghini museum for the car buffs. For those students fond of nightlife during weekends there are plenty of bars and nightclubs.
The climate is mostly quite temperate and during the months from April to October the city is swarming with tourists. The minimum temperature goes down to 8 degrees Celsius only in January.
As always, we would request you to check out the websites of each of the universities and identify the courses that inspire you the most.
