Young learning city practitioners from all over the world are welcome to apply for the third International Conference on Learning Cities. The main theme of the event is ‘Global goals, local actions: Towards lifelong learning for all in 2030’. The event will be held from 18th to 20th of September in the city of Cork, Ireland. Deadline to apply is August 31st.

This Conference is the first of its kind to take place in Cork, a city which enjoys a long history of lifelong learning. The conference will bring together city leaders and national government representatives, representatives of international organisations, non-governmental organisations and private-sector partners as well as experts in the fields of education, lifelong learning and city development to shape the future of learning cities.

Through plenary sessions, thematic forums and the presentations of cities’ best practices, participants will discuss:

  • How lifelong learning supports the achievement of the SDGs at local levels
  • Promotion of integrated governance and multi-stakeholder partnerships for the cities’ sustainable future
  • Successful ways of implementing and measuring the impact of local actions for sustainable development

In addition, mayors will be able to exchange their views and experiences in a mayor’s forum, and a matchmaking event will provide participants with opportunities to exchange knowledge and forge links and partnerships.

Registration for the third International Conference on Learning Cities is now open. UNESCO and the City of Cork warmly invite learning city practitioners, local and national representatives, experts in and newcomers to the field to register through the Conference website.
