Top 10 Destinations on the Rise


The popular traveling website TripAdvisor released a list of destinations that are on the rise to become “hits” of international tourism. Countries like Brazil, Russia, Cambodia and Cyprus are on the list. It was created based on the opinions of travelers’ themselves, the so-called Travelers’ Choice Awards.

“The winning places offer great accommodation options, restaurants and activities to inspire those who are planning their vacations for next year,” stated Barbara Hessing, head of the marketing department of TripAdvisor.


  1. Da Nang, Vietnam

Vietnamese port city of Da Nang took the first place and the visitors highlighted the breathtaking landscape of the Marble Mountains and enjoyed the authenticity of the traditional local food.

  1. Sihanoukville, Cambodia

The white sandy beaches are the main attraction of Sihanoukville in Cambodia. Diving in and enjoying the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand are among the must-do’s. Another activity includes visiting the Ream National Park to witness the wildlife.

The second largest city in Cyprus Limassol attracts those who are interested in visiting a beach as well as those who prefer to explore museums and archaeological sites. Located in the Bay of Acrotiri, the sunny city also has a bustling nightlife.

A tip for activities in Ao Nang is to enjoy the paradise-like beaches, dive or marvel at the limestone cliffs and rocks in the nearby Peninsula Rai Leh.

The town that was once a small fishing village has become one of the major points of interest in Turkey in the recent decades. Visitors highlighted the vibrant cultural scene of the city, which attracts writers, intellectuals, artists and musicians.

The sun shines almost all year round in the city located on the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea. The warm, clear waters attract divers, while the reefs in the Natural Reserve of Coral Beach are perfect for snorkeling. The visitors can explore the ancient copper mines of Timna Park, as well as shops, bars and waterfront restaurants.
