The chance to own a house of one’s own is an unreachable dream for many people, especially in cities, but not just in large urban areas. To say good-bye to standardised accommodation may be a necessary first step along with a willingness to reduce living space quite dramatically. From camper vans and mobile homes through small log cabins, cottages and garden houses, even exploring the traditional accommodation of nomads – these and more are inspirational options for owning a home.

There are great advantages to camper van


Right behind the camper van is the mobile home – moveable within limits, and a more stable form of accommodation


Refurbished shipping containers have become an option which can turn into a modest home or, by adding on, a larger residence.


When it doesn’t work horizontally, the best way is to go vertical – with a tiny house on top of a building.


Reconstructing old forgotten garden houses or log cabins is surely an option.


The same goes for cottages, which go for a fraction of the market price of classic houses.
