The Reina Sofía School of Music was created in 1991 as a social project to help both young people and musical culture. Since then, the School has worked to advance on two objectives: to support highly-talented young people in their personal and artistic development, and to bring the best music to all audiences.
The school provides all accepted students with a tuition-free education. The only payment is €1,200 as a reservation fee, to be made before 30 June annually. The scholarship is equivalent to the annual cost of the studies of €45,000 per student. This includes highly individualised teaching and a high number of concerts scheduled for the students. In order to facilitate their stay during their studies, the School offers all students several ways of additional financial assistance. Students may receive compensation for some of their performances at the School’s concert cycles. Additionally, the School has an agreement with an establishment that offers students daily meals at a very low price. The School may grant a financial allowance to cover the costs of accommodation on top of covering the annual cost of private health insurance for non-EU students.
Application process is ongoing.
All foreigners who are interested in studying at the School will cianshave access to advice and help with the necessary administrative procedures to formalise their stay in Spain. As of the first day of the course, non-European international students must have a student visa that allows them to obtain a NIE (Foreign National Identification Number) to reside legally in Spain. The student must establish residence in Madrid for the academic year.
The official language at the School is Spanish. For this reason, all non-Spanish-speaking students will be offered an intensive course in their first year of studies so they can quickly familiarise themselves with the basics of the language. Additionally, in some classes the teachers use English.
