The use of social media helps artists build and retain their reputations. A person’s relationships with other individuals confer social capital. As a member of a given group, an artist might gain various advantages through social media platforms. The capacity of up-and-coming artists to expand their fan base has historically been hampered by a lack of contact with influential industry figures. Since artists can use social media to connect and stay in contact, it helps them build social capital. The ability of an artist to connect with his fans through social media platforms ultimately results in increased brand awareness and concert ticket sales if there is any concert, which is a win-win situation for everyone involved. An artist may keep his followers engaged and interested in his works by using social media to communicate with them. Over 200 million people use Facebook, making it the most popular social network in the world. An artist’s marketing strategy can benefit greatly from using Facebook, thanks to its large user base. Facebook’s ability to reach a large audience and its sophisticated news feed feature has made it a popular tool for artists. Another extremely adaptable social media platform, YouTube has been employed to promote artists. As a result of this, artists may now share their work with a broader audience, and if their work is well received, they get a large audience and even make revenue from it.

The music industry has seen transformation because of the internet and social media. Record labels can identify new talent as well as market their artists to a wider audience. Not only is social media promoting the work of artists, but it is also serving as another revenue stream for artists, especially on YouTube. The larger your viewership, the greater money you make aside from selling of your music on mainstream media. It is no doubt that, social media can not be taken out of the music industry’s growth, in other words social media and music are now a couple whose bond can never be broken.
