TED Fellows Program for Mid-Career Professionals

Doers, advocates, musicians, scientists, and activists with unusual accomplishments are invited to participate in the TED Fellows Program. The program provides support and coaching to selected participants. Fellows will benefit from regional meet-ups, retreats, and the opportunity to give their own TED talk. The deadline is on 24 August 2020.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks of up to 18 minutes in length. Every year, through a rigorous open application process, TED selects a group of rising stars to participate in a highly selective fellowship program. Fellows are invited to attend a TED conference, where they meet, exchange ideas and give their own TED Talk.

Fellows are selected based on their remarkable achievements, their strength of character and their innovative approach to studying and solving the global issues. Once selected, fellows participate in professional coaching and mentoring and work with a public relations expert. Fellows participate in an active online network and attend regional meet-ups and retreats. All TED Fellows also have the opportunity to apply for a Senior Fellowship and grow their leadership in the Fellows community. With the program’s support, Fellows have received millions of dollars in funding for their research and been awarded prestigious prizes and grants.

The deadline is on 24 August 2020.

Main criteria

The TED Fellows program focuses on doers, makers, inventors, advocates, filmmakers and photographers, musicians and artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, NGO heads, and human rights activists.

Fellows are selected by the program staff, with extensive reference checking and consultation with experts across all fields. Fellows are selected based on their accomplishments in their respective fields, the potential impact of their work and also their character. The ideal applicant is multidisciplinary and collaborative in their pursuits and is at a moment in their career to maximize the support of the TED community.
