The fellowship will run from June until August 2015. TechChange is a social enterprise that specializes in building online certificate courses for individuals and organizations that want to make a positive difference in the world.
Through the fellowship, the participants will acquire practical knowledge in web development and will be exposed to a range of applications and organizations using technology to tackle a variety of global challenges — from creating prosthetic limbs with a 3D printer to combating malaria with mobile devices.
The fellows will be provided with a round-trip plane ticket to Washington DC where TechChange is based (from a location within the US) and a monthly stipend of 2000 USD for the period of the fellowship.
TechChange fellows will spend three months designing and implementing a web development project related to education, technology, and social welfare. The staff will deliver training, mentorship, and a series of events to provide support to the fellows.
In order to be eligible for the program, a participant must be a university student (junior, senior) or a recent graduate and have at least one year of experience in computer science or web development.
