To Breathe Or Not To Breathe

The notion that air pollution is more than just a topic that environmentalists use to frighten ordinary people was unconvincing to me when I read about it in a textbook, but not when I felt it from my own experience. After spending a couple of weeks in the Czech city of Ostrava at the height of the winter heating season, where I participated in the project of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Charles University (atmospheric air quality assessment and solid particles concentration measurement), I returned to Prague with acute conjunctivitis. The ophthalmologist, upon examining me, was horrified and asked how I managed to bring myself to such a state. Hearing in response that I had been working in Ostrava, she nodded knowingly and glumly advised me to avoid traveling to that part of Moravia in the future.

He, along with his team of MIT engineers, set out to develop a technology that did just that. Silent Hero In The World Of Wrong Beliefs

It is the 21st century, and there are still some certain countries in the world where it is hard to be a woman. Child marriages, violence, a lack of female schools, tribal prejudices which hold that education is not for women are everyday realities. In such surroundings, Wadia Samadi (28) grasped her chance to earn an academic degree in Economics when international organizations were available to help out. She also did the unimaginable: she became a journalist and a businesswoman. She still goes to meetings with an escort, because many associates refuse to negotiate or meet with her otherwise. Dealing with such moments, she continues her subtle fight to change people's minds about opportunities for women in business and in other phases of life. We interview the first female owner of a financial website in Afghanistan in an eye-opening story for the Youth Time magazine.

Land Of Urban Vibe, Rural Scenery, And The Last Nomads In The World

Now it’s time for a real adventure. We are heading to an unfairly underestimated country in the middle of Asia – Mongolia. Mongolia is a landlocked country of vast steppes, blue skies, mountains, hawks, horses, historical heroes, and yoghurt. Probably the most famous thing about Mongolia is its great hero and warrior king, Genghis Khan, who managed to conquer almost the whole world and created an empire that briefly stretched from the Korean Peninsula to the Black Sea. The country is large but sparsely inhabited, with only 3mln people. It is still a developing country with one, fast-growing city and large areas where nature remains pristine and inhabitants are scarce. Because of sparse air connections and a not-very-developed infrastructure, Mongolia is hard to get to but is definitely worth visiting, as you will see when you read about it.
