Every day, hundreds of donkeys, tipper lorries, wheelbarrows, head pans, and shovels are used to dig sand running into millions of tons and move it to where it is used in building houses and constructing other structures across Nigeria. Many people ignore the fact that the indiscriminate digging of sand is dangerous; and that encroaching on farmlands can reduce farming activities needed for food security and income for farmers and more revenue to the government. Farming reduces poverty and hunger. Apart from the fact that natural resources should be used properly, local residents should be made to understand the consequences of acting otherwise.

Kateřina Karásková is a lawyer and human-rights activist from the Czech Republic. She has lived in Guatemala with Mayan Indians who have survived genocide; she has started a hospital and managed schools in needy areas of Uganda; and she has overseen environmental and agricultural projects in Kenya. Together with her partner, Simon Bird, she has written and illustrated a book titled "Kde ženy vládnou", which has been published in the Czech language. Simon is an artist from East Devon in the United Kingdom. For the last twenty years he has travelled the globe and created arts-based projects with indigenous tribes. Together with Kateřina, he has written and illustrated a series of four eBooks called "Where Women Rule!"

Attendees were exposed to a variety of innovative masterclasses and workshops which touched upon topics related to the overall theme of the event – Ethical Entrepreneurship in the Time of a Competitive Knowledge-based Economy. Further, thirteen social enterprise projects were presented by participants with one winner receiving Youth Time’s Idea Grant to convert their idea into a reality!
