Journalists covering business, economic, environmental, or finance news are invited to participate in an online workshop on climate change and energy transition. Applicants should be working for outlets in Southeast Asia. Participants will learn innovative ways of content creation and storytelling. The deadline is on 11 December 2020.
The program is organised by Thomson Reuters Foundation, in collaboration with the European Climate Foundation. Thomson Reuters Foundation is an independent charity registered in the UK and the USA.
The organisation works to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights. European Climate Foundation, or ECF, was founded as an international non-profit organisation whose aims are to promote climate and energy policies to reduce Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions.
During the workshop, journalists will work on an actual story project and refine its idea with feedback from TRF trainers. At the end of the week, Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) will award £250 story grants and ongoing mentoring for eight weeks to selected applicants.
Journalists who graduate from this programme will join the alumni network and access alumni forums, to exchange further insights, tips, and ideas with peers.
During the workshop week, the group sessions will run for two hours online daily, plus a virtual office time to allow for one-on-one coaching from TRF trainers.
The deadline is on 11 December 2020.
Applicants must be full-time journalists or editors covering business, economic, environmental, energy, or finance news from countries in Southeast Asia or freelance journalists working for outlets in Southeast Asia.
At least two years of professional experience are required. Since the training will be conducted in English, participants must be proficient in spoken and written English.
