Nuffic Scholarship for the Course at the Hague Academy

In this training course, participants will discuss ways to involve citizens – especially minorities and marginalized groups – to create a culture of inclusive governance. The course will take place in The Hague from 15 to 26 March 2021. The deadline for the full Nuffic Scholarship is on 29 September 2020.

The Nuffic Scholarship covers the course that will take place in the Hague Academy, the Netherlands. The Hague Academy is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established by VNG International in 2006, and with the support from the municipality of The Hague. The organization specializes in practice-oriented training courses and study visits for civil servants, local practitioners, and professionals at donor and development organizations. In 2008, The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs recognized the Academy as a leading institution on local governance innovation.

Participants will meet the Ombudsman of The Hague and visit examples of joint policymaking and multi-stakeholder governance, such as neighbourhood projects in the city of Amsterdam or The Hague. This course will help participants identify instruments for increasing social accountability, specify conditions and do’s and don’ts for successful participation projects, and apply tools for communication with citizens, NGOs and other stakeholders. The Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic) offers scholarships for training courses in the Netherlands. The Nuffic Scholarship for short courses at The Hague Academy covers the tuition fee, return flights, insurance, and accommodation, in addition to a small daily subsistence allowance.

The scholarship deadline is on 29 September 2020.
