Natural Resources For Sustainable Development Course in Baku, Azerbaijan

The Eurasia Extractive Industries Knowledge Hub was established in 2010 at Khazar University as a regional focal point of Natural Resource Governance Institute’s (NRGI) Global HUB program.

NRGI has offered a wide range of courses on the extractive industries decision chain and thematic courses in issues relevant to the Eurasia region.

The overarching goal of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for building a broad understanding of policy challenges in resource governance with an in-depth focus on legal and fiscal framework and revenue management.

The online stage of the programme will last for two months starting in the spring 2021 and include weekly assignments.

Based on the quality of the work submitted, candidates will be further selected for the residential stage.

The in-person training will last for 10 days. Participants will attend sessions on political economy of policy-making in resource-rich states, data analysis, and policy options for sustainable development.

Lectures will be given at Khazar University.

The working language of the course is Russian. Materials in both English and Russian languages will be used.

Eurasia Hub will cover all the costs of the course for selected participants. This includes accommodation, meals, travel costs to Baku and airport transfers within Baku.

Please note that self-funded participants are also welcome.

The deadline is on Monday 15th February 2021.

 

Main Criteria

Potential participants of the programme are:

Mid-level government, senior parliamentary staff, specialized civil society and media, international development agencies and private company representatives, as well as academics and researchers from countries of the Eurasia region.
