Students from Balkan countries are eligible to apply for a paid internship program in Germany. Interns will be placed in companies where they will develop their competencies in business, engineering, computer science, and other fields. The program covers living expenses and airfare for participants. The deadline is on 16 November 2020.
The Programme is implemented on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The Internship Programme of German Business empowers students and young graduates to gain first work experience in leading German companies in Germany. By doing so, the Internship Programme contributes to practical training and further education of young and cosmopolitan people who think across borders and shape the economic development of their home countries.
The internships last between 3 and 6 months. Scholarship holders are assigned to internship positions which match their academic background. The program of German Business offers in large, small and medium-sized companies. The program provides comprehensive organizational and administrative support and covers most of the costs before and during the internships’ stay in Germany. Additionally, interns receive monthly scholarships of 550 euros to cover living expenses during the stay in Germany. The program covers preparatory meetings in participants’ home countries, return flight ticket, introductory week in Berlin, up to 200 euros for a German language course during the internship, and visa. Applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia who study or have completed their studies in one of these countries are eligible to apply.

Main criteria
Candidates should fill out an online application in English or German. Additionally, they should provide a CV and a cover letter. Candidates apply for internships in their respective fields of study, not for specific positions or companies. The Programme will forward the profiles of shortlisted candidates to the companies. Candidates should not contact companies in advance. Most of the companies make their decision based on the written application and the recommendation of the selection committee. However, some companies also conduct short telephone or Skype interviews with the proposed candidates themselves.
