IYMS is an annual, two-week event that brings together young people from different cultures to create media projects aimed at inspiring their generation to take action and assume responsibility for the future. As a result, barriers to misunderstanding and ignorance are broken down, friendships emerge, creativity flows, and films are produced. The Mission of IYMS is to give young people from around the globe the opportunity to work beyond borders, collaborating on media projects and motivating one another to take action to shape the world.
The Summit experience enables youth to think globally while stressing the urgency of acting locally. When delegates return to their home countries, they screen the short films in their classrooms, clubs, or community centers and lead workshops to raise awareness.
The application contains questions about previous experience participating in youth conferences and gives an opportunity for candidates to share relevant information regarding their awareness of one of the main points of the agenda. These include discrimination, environment, health, poverty, violence and women’s rights, and youth empowerment.
- Successful applicants should have experience in – and awareness of – activities related to one of the main points of the agenda (discrimination, environment, health, poverty, violence and women’s rights, and youth empowerment);
- English language skills are essential for a productive collaboration with other participants;
- Belonging to an organization is not the main criterion.
The organizing committee offers a number of scholarships that will fully or partially cover the participation fee of $900 and travel expenses. In order to apply for a scholarship, please fill out the scholarship form on the official website.
