Young people from all over the world are welcome to apply for the Global Initiatives Symposium in Taiwan. This year, the GIS Taiwan will take place at the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, from July 3 to July 7. Deadline for the application is May 14, 2017.
The Global Initiatives Symposium in Taiwan (GIS Taiwan) is an international student forum sponsored by the National Taiwan University Office of Student Affairs, and supported by the University’s Office of International Affairs. Established in 2009, it aims to become the most influential forum in Asia for young adults to network.
During the five-day forum, professionals from different fields will participate in comprehensive discussions of current issues with distinguished students from around the globe. Delegates will construct an Action Project after intensive brainstorming. In past conferences, GIS Taiwan had the honor to invite speakers including Nobel Prize Laureates, the President of the Republic of China Tsai Ing- Wen, and chairpersons and presidents of universities and other leading organisations.
The theme of this year’s Symposium is “Rise to Prominence” and its committee topics – namely Blockchain, Low-carbon energy, Media, and Extremism – will provide participants with a platform to discuss and work on current issues, as well as to generate possible solutions for them.
The participation fee for the Symposium differs depending on the time of submitting the application. The regular fee of $280 covers participation in the Symposium, hand-outs, and accommodation while airfare is at the participants’ expense. The candidates have an opportunity to apply for a scholarship which will partially or fully cover the fee.
Main criteria:
- Successful candidates need to be either undergraduate or graduate students. At the same time, high school students can apply via the High School Program;
- The application must be submitted in English as it is the official language of the Symposium.
- After applying and submitting all the necessary documents, successful applicants will receive a letter of confirmation within 5 working days.
