European Youth Press is Going to Fight for Media Freedom

223

The European Youth Press (EYP), non-for-profit organisation which supports young media makers, launches crowdfunding campaign #freeourmedia to support media freedom across the continent. You also have a chance to take part in it.

The organisation aims to raise 7.500 EUR from donors before 6th of August to create and print, at least, 10.000 copies of the special comic book.

This book will be one of the main outcomes of the project. It will be a graphic novel with 15 short stories on the challenges and threats media actors face in Europe. The book will be created by young journalists and cartoonists from 15 different countries. They will come together from 15 to 19 July in Berlin to start designing, drawing and writing the comic book, based on their experience. Human Rights artists, Yorgos Konstantinou and Marcus Mazzoni, will be their mentors.

“Literally, every little helps. It doesn’t matter how much you can put into this, it will be very welcome. This is not just a donation, anyway. People who support this project get something on the side, starting from an electronic edition of the book, for those who contribute 10 EUR, up to printed copies, t-shirts or even a special mention in the book for individuals and institutions that can give us more”, says project coordinator Anna Saraste
