The ESD Okayama Award 2021 offers up to $3,000 to organisations working on education for sustainable development practices in local communities around the world. The representatives of the winning projects will be invited to give a presentation at the awarding ceremony. The deadline is on Thursday 15th July 2021.
Okayama City launched the ‘ESD Okayama Award’ in 2015. The ESD Okayama Award is organized by Okayama City and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board, composed of organisations which have been promoting ESD in Japan and around the world.
The award selection committee consists of six leading organisations in ESD, including UNU-IAS and UNESCO Bangkok.
Promoting Education for Sustainable Development is considered critical to ensure quality of education for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
For this reason, the awards will provide up to $3,000 to projects contributing to this cause on a local level in their communities.
Please note that one representative from the winning project(s) will be invited to the ceremony in Okayama, Japan to give a presentation. Whether this ceremony will be held in-person or online is to be decided. The awarding ceremony is scheduled on Saturday 20th November 2021.
The deadline is on Thursday 15th July 2021.
Organisations based in any country, including Japan, implementing ESD activities in local communities are eligible to apply for the award.
