Prestigious Fellowships For Accelerator Development Programs For Businesses

1. Wise Guys SaaS- Africa Acceleration Program 2022

Applications are open for the Wise Guys SaaS- Africa Acceleration Program 2022. A 5-month long acceleration program combines online modules with local and international experts and mentors.

Organization
Startup Wise Guys is one of the leading startup investors in Europe and Namibia. It has more than 300+ investments in Africa and is backed by experts and industry professionals to mentor and guide the startups it undertakes.

Benefits
This program is mainly for English-speaking East and West African early-stage digital B2B SaaS startups with initial traction. The businesses will get up to euro 65K investment for up to 12% equity (48K cash + 17K program) with a follow-on possibility.

Eligibility

  • Startups can apply online and catch the Wise Guys Africa team for a chat, office hours, and free mentoring at events. Follow our Facebook and LinkedIn pages for updates on upcoming events.
  • We have several Selection Bootcamps happening every few weeks within the scouting process, and the best ten startups pitch in front of the General Partners and SWG team each time.
  • Teams that apply until the end of June and are selected after the first Selection Bootcamps start their journey with an equity-free 8-week Pre-acceleration program as part of the Wise Guys SaaS – Africa journey.

2. Africa Research Excellence Fund Research Development Fellowship Program 2022

Research Development Fellowship (RDF) Programme is designed to support African researchers working on important challenges for human health in Africa. So far, it has supported 65 health researchers with placements at world-class research institutions across Africa and Europe.

Organization
Professor Corrah founded the Africa Research Excellence Fund in September 2015, supported by the UK Medical Research Foundation. Throughout his thirty-year health research and leadership career, Professor Corrah has been exposed to many grant-award bodies and committees, highlighting the challenges that emerging African health researchers face. These include a lack of essential opportunities to develop research ideas, compete internationally to win research funding, or access world-class research advisors and mentors.

Benefits

  • The RDF Programme supports placement of between three to nine months for each Fellow at a leading research organization in Europe or Africa, with time on either side of the placement for preparation and follow-up. This aims to promote the development of technical skills, collaborations, and networks.
  • The RDF Programme does NOT provide Fellows with funds for a whole research project; it focuses on developing researcher skills.
  • The maximum award for the fellowship placement is £40,000 (GB Pounds).
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate a credible, ambitious vision for their research career in an area of human-health challenge for Africa; and a transformational, well-supported development plan that would be significantly enhanced by the RDF Program.
  • Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their plans at an early stage with their employees and potential host organizations.

Eligibility
Applicants must be a national of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa to be eligible. You need not be resident in Africa at the time of applying, provided your application is officially supported by an African institution that meets the eligibility criteria for an employing institution and attests that it intends to employ you locally.

3.ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF)

Applications are open ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) for the year 2022. India has been the dialogue partner for ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) since 1992. In 2012, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary as a dialogue partner, India-ASEAN celebrated a commemorative Summit and declared enhancement of its relations to the strategic level.

Organization
ASEAN- India S&T Collaboration started formally in 1996 with the establishment of the ASEAN India S&T working Group (AIWGST). Initially, the S&T activities were supported through the ASEAN India Fund (AIF) of Govt. of India. The government of India established a dedicated fund, namely ASEAN India S&T Development Fund (AISTDF), in 2008 to support projects and associated project development activities. The Plan of Action of the ASEAN-INDIA PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE, PROGRESS, AND SHARED PROSPERITY (2021-2025), implements the goals and objectives of the ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace, Progress, and Shared Prosperity and the Vision Statements of Leaders of ASEAN and India. Through the implementation of this Plan of Action, ASEAN and India will work towards supporting the ASEAN Community building and integration process for a politically cohesive, economically integrated, socially responsible, and truly people-oriented, people-centered, and rules-based ASEAN, narrowing the development gap and enhancing ASEAN Connectivity. Both sides will further promote cooperation in addressing common and emerging challenges and enhance coordination in another international forum on issues of common concern to contribute to overall peace, stability, and prosperity.

Benefits
Fifty (50) fellowships per year shall be awarded to young scientists and researchers from the ASEAN Member States to get affiliated with Indian academic and R&D institutions. The AISTDF is an equivalent amount of 5 Million USD in INR and is jointly contributed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The Department of Science & Technology is the nodal Department for executing and implementing the ASEAN-India S&T Cooperation program from the Indian side.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be holding the nationality of any of the ASEAN Member states.
  • Possess at least a Masters’s Degree in any Natural Sciences or an equivalent degree in Technology / Engineering / Medicine / allied disciplines.
  • Applicant should be working/studying and/or affiliated with any national R&D or academic institution in his/ her home ASEAN Member State. The application should be endorsed by the Head of his/ her institution, confirming that if selected, he/ she will be sanctioned leave for the Fellowship period and will join his/ her duties back in the institution on completion of the Fellowship in India.
  • The upper age limit for the applicant is 45 years as of the date of submission of the application.
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Indian nationals are not eligible for the Fellowship.
  • ASEAN applicants who have availed any fellowship scheme of Govt of India during the last three years are not ELIGIBLE to apply.
  • The proposed research work in India must be linked/connected and add value to any of the ongoing research projects/schemes of the Indian host Institute.
