Current PhD students in clinical psychology are invited for a year-long paid internship at Duke University Medical Center. Interns will benefit from a stipend of $25,000, medical insurance and training. The deadline is on 1 November 2020.
Duke University Medical Center’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship Program started in 1948 and accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1957. It has 10 full-time interns across two major tracks: Adult Psychology and Child Psychology. A central vision of the Duke Internship Program is to provide both the breadth to ensure core competencies while giving opportunities to pursue depth into a specific area of Clinical Psychology.
The overall aim of the Duke Internship Program is to provide the breadth of training to ensure the development of all profession-wide competencies. Training takes place within the context and spirit of the scientist-practitioner and clinical scientist models with the aim to produce Clinical Psychologists able to thrive in a variety of academic and health care settings. Virtual interview will take place in January 2021. Annual stipend for the full-time interns in $25,000. The program provides access to medical insurance and access to dental and vision benefits. Candidates will need to provide a cover letter indicating how the program will meet their training goals and interests, and specifying which track they are applying to (Adult Track or Child Track) and the Concentration within the Track. A CV as well as official graduate transcripts and three letters of recommendation are required.

Applicants to the Duke Clinical Psychology Internship Program must be enrolled in either an APA or CPA-accredited PhD Program in Clinical Psychology only. Also, applicants from Online programs will not be considered. Applicants from graduate programs adhering to a scientist-practitioner or clinical scientist model are strongly preferred. Applicants must have completed the third year of their graduate program by the beginning of the internship year and must be certified as ready for Internship by their department’s Director of Clinical Training. Applicants should have completed a minimum of 500 practicum hours. Completion of all academic work, including the dissertation, is preferred.
