The International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary is famous for the fact that it gathers beneath the same roof or, more properly, beneath a marvelous sky various little-known novice creators and Czech masters as well as world-class stars. The chief guest of the last festival was a two-time Oscar winner, one of the most popular actors and directors in Hollywood - Mel Gibson. He introduced the movie Apocalypto to the guests of the festival.

Salman Khoshroo’s portraits seem so honest and yet impartial, that they make you quiver. Perhaps that happens because what he does in his paintings is laying human soul open. Psychology is his primary interest in art. Khoshroo’s studio is similar to a psychologist’s consulting room, and his paintings come as personal diagnosis for different people. Each face looking at you from his paintings is a face of an ordinary Iranian. Each face makes you wonder about what one man is able to understand about the other, and about how this comprehension is possible without words. Interview with elements of analysis of modern educational system told by an ordinary Czech fellow. Jakub Studeny is also known under the stage name IronKap. He is a young teacher of computer science and economics and a rapper in the one skin. Back in the day he had worked in the economic department of a large pharmaceutical company in Prague, but he didn’t enjoy that job at all. A successful musician decided to become a teacher and devote part of his life to profession, which, as you know, is something more than just an ordinary job. Miloš Zeman is the 3rd President of the Czech Republic, who has been elected for the first time by the nationwide voting. He has held the Presidential office since March 2013. The clamorous corruption scandal which occurred during his Presidency resulted in early elections to the lower house of the Czech Parliament. From 1993 to 2001, Zeman was the leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party. Under his leadership, the weak and poorly managed organization has developed into one of the most influential political forces in the country. Zeman is an author of the biographical book called “How I made mistakes in politics” (Jak jsem se mýlil v politice) that was published in 2005 during the period of his withdrawal from active social life.
