Linz Through Photographs

This week we discover another university city in Austria. Linz is the third largest Austrian city with a rich history. Linz is also a place of many cultural events. Last but not the least, Linz holds the oldest cake recipe in the world, dating back in 1653 - called Linzer Torte.

Linz is a city of contrasts. Medieval architecture, places of worship, the old part of the town and the new and the modern, it is all there. At one time known more as the hometown of Hitler, especially since 2009 Linz came to be known as a city of culture when UNESCO called it the European cultural capital for that year. This city of 200,000 residents has its fair share of student population and international students at the university level.

Tour Through Australia

One of the last trips that will feature an individual country will take us to Australia - the smallest continent in the world, where the distances are often greater than the distances separating the largest countries in Europe. Seventy percent of Australia’s area is covered with deserts or semi-deserts, which is why the greatest part of the Australian population lives in the cities on the coasts. The country's magnificent scenery attracts millions of tourists every year.

Now that we are in winter, it is more important than ever to stay strong and healthy. In the next two articles we will focus on two important vitamins that, especially in winter, people too often lack.  The first of them is vitamin C. What to eat or drink in order to absorb the right quantity of this important vitamin?

Let them eat cake is what she is said to have famously spoken, condescendingly, when she was told the populace did not have bread to eat. Marie Antoinette who was born Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna to the royal family of Austria and by virtue of her marriage to Louis XVI, eventually became the last queen of France.

Salzburg Through Photographs

Our next Austrian university town is a beautiful small city with a population of 150 000, near the German border. Listed in UNESCO, and situated close by the Alps, it is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart... and these are only few interesting facts about it. Here is all that is worth seeing while studying at one of Salzburg‘s three universities.

Named one of the UNESCO world heritage sites only in 1996, the city of Salzburg was made famous long before then with the film The Sound of Music in 1965 which was inspired by the true story of the von Trapp family. This fabulous city was relatively less known before then.

One million, five hundred thousand? To get closer to the precise numbers, you will need to come down bit more. A list of the world’s least populated national capitals can be found in our new article.
