Three friends – an architect, a photographer, and a programmer - reunited after several years abroad to launch a story that responds to the current situation in the Rock ’n’ Roll scene. Driven by strength, emotion, and desire, FREEDOM brings head-banging riffs and a strong groove – not to mention insane energy and sweat – to its live shows. The band is based in Montenegro, represents a spark for the rock ‘n’ roll scene in the Balkans, a contrast to overly computer-generated music machinery and the increased clinging onto mainstream trends and the lack of the new, heavy sounds that would provoke raw energy and excitement. Rade “Duda” Vukčević – the band’s frontman – made some time for a beer and an interview .

Social networks are filling up with events and announcements, promising another series of mixes with new tracks. Another spring and summer party season is just around the corner, so it is not a bad idea to do a little research into what the DJs and producers are cooking up in their studios. Below are some of my personal favorite radio shows and podcasts that will satisfy anyone’s taste when it comes to electronic music. For those of you who want to enjoy some awesome but not so popular (undetected) tracks, these podcasts will steal your ears.

His artwork is psychedelic, dizzy, colorful, and explicit; and it gently explores the depths of intimacy. Known to many people as Phazed, Jean Francois Painchaud is a Canadian digital artist and animator whose fame was launched after being banned on Facebook.

Some people call it “wave”, some would say it is “witch house”, or even “experimental bass”. Whatever the nomenclature, it is hard to define this quite unusual, underground genre.

Contemporary scientific research is demonstrating that gaming can be a brain-empowering activity (if played for a reasonable amount of time). The next time you hear someone say something like “I play World of Warcraft”, try not to belittle the activity.

Poland is an increasingly popular destination for party-hungry people who appreciate a true underground rave scene. Former factories, warehouses, and labyrinth- like clubs welcome ravers from different parts of the world. There you may enjoy various sets by the famous names and local DJs who’ve formed the very underground scene of Poland.

Young people today have access to a wide range of programs to study abroad, and the number of them is constantly growing. Studying abroad is a great chance to see how the systems in other countries work, and also to test yourself as a person. A typical list of advantages that come along includes new friendships, experiences, traveling, and so on. As with everything else in life, not even this resists turning into a cliché. The reason is that many perceive a semester or a year abroad as an “academic vacation“. For all of you who are about to go abroad and study as exchange students, take a moment to decide whether you just want months of fun, or a meaningful experience (which doesn’t exclude wild parties).

The suggestions I am about to offer come out of my personal experience, and reflect approaches I have tried in my own life. You may think that traveling solo and going to events alone is a common thing, but would you do that yourself if you had a chance? People seem, at first blush, to be excited about the idea of being 100% responsible for just themselves, but in the end that enthusiasm turns out to be more theoretical than actual. The problem is that we have become too dependent on people. Socialization is, with no doubt, one of the main factors in our lives, but it need not be crucial. Loneliness is having a deleterious effect on us, as we settle for anything that feeds our need for belonging. Furthermore, we forget about ourselves, and we sabotage our sense of self-worth.

At the beginning of this year, the announcement that Norway was shutting down its FM network caused turmoil among the public, and at the same time sparked various debates. Many forums are still filled with predictions and claims concerning the situation and the changes that may be pending for radio. While it seems that digitalization is moving head of the FM frequency, the radio as an influential factor in the media persists. Divided opinions suggest its future is uncertain; and yet, there are facts that support the continuing importance of radio.

People consider indulging in food, excessive shopping, and the pursuit of popularity as new addictions brought about by globalization and the digital era. However, seeing these trends solely as addictions may hinder our understanding of the elements of this trio fantastico, since they have grown into cultural phenomena. They have a large impact on every modern individual’s life, but nonetheless their influence can be controlled if we treat these elements as separate cultures. Cultural norms are willingly adopted, whether they are habits, or just a way of dressing. It is a palette of behaviors that build up an identity, which further governs the way of life.
