Things Every Young Person Has to Try Doing Alone at Least Once

Are you faced with lots of time to yourself? That is awesome, because there are plenty of ways to use your free time and to try doing somethings things alone.

Travel

Travelling alone might sound a bit scary… You have to book your own ticket, plan the whole trip down to the details, and choose among thousands of hotels or hostels to stay in . . . However, think about it for a second, if you decide to travel alone, you are not attached to anybody! You are free to go wherever you want to go, whenever you want to get started, you are not dependent on anybody’s timing, you can eat randomly at local restaurants, decide where to go first, sleep and wake up whenever you want! Believe me, you will see the world differently, your own country differently, the people you encounter differently, and even your room differently when you come back. And of course, you will definitely feel more proud of yourself than ever before. Read also our traveling solo article.

See a movie

You haven’t gone to a cinema alone and chilled out yet? Well then this is a must! Isn’t it great to feel a sense of being adventurous when you and only you go to the theatre to see a random movie, sit on the last row or in the middle of the room, grab some popcorn, absorb the movie by yourself first before hearing a critique, and immerse yourself in the movie? And you know what? The afternoon is a pretty good time for you to do this since the ticket will be relatively cheap compared to other times of the day, and further, very few people can go to the cinema in the afternoon!

Visit a museum

I am sure many of you have gone to museums but didn’t take the time to really look at the masterpieces on exhibit, and try to understand them, or at least admire them. Oh well, then it is time to stand up, make a move, and draw up a list of must-go-museums, just for you! Be smart for a day! Stroll slowly through section after section, read the guidebook, look carefully at the details, take a photo here and there, stop at the museum café, enjoy a cup of coffee, and then go back to the rest of your visit. Don’t leave early! Stay there until you discover every single corner of the museum!

Hit the mall

Trust your instincts and let yourself wander around the mall as long as you like! You don’t have to be considerate of your friends or sisters if they want to visit certain stores first or if they take time strolling around shops where you find nothing worth looking at. Those items that you buy will be gifts just for you at the end of the day.

Eat out

Admit it; eating alone can be scary and strange for all of us at first… We are busy thinking of what other people think about us sitting alone and ordering and then eating our own meal! But take it easy, if they think about you at all, they are probably thinking how cool and calm you are and so brave to be eating alone! You don’t have to talk much, just spend time enjoying the dish you order, look around, enjoy the atmosphere and cherish this wonderful moment for yourself!

Exercise

It’s time to stay healthy and get in shape! Maybe your body is crying for help at this time of the year! And nothing is better than getting started by yourself. Go out to the nearest park, any place you like, or go to the gym. You will feel a sense of achievement at the end of the day when you have been able to look yourself in the mirror as well as take care of yourself.
